The Positive Vibe series comes to us from South Island artist Rachelle. Created using mixed media and framed in a natural wood frame, these pieces give an upbeat message both in the carefully chosen words and cleverly crafted drawings.

Rachelle McKellar-Basset lives and works on the beautiful west coast of the South Island. She is inspired by the wild coastline. She worked for many years as a visual arts teacher in Auckland but now feels at home on the coast. Preserving and caring for the natural environment is close to her heart. With her husband she runs as eco campsite on their rural property, practicing permaculture and breeding pasture-fed chickens and sheep.
Rachelle is a graduate of the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Visual Arts, 2005. She was awarded the Toss Wollaston scholarship in her first year of study.
