This beautiful old oar has sprung back into a life of beauty under Justine's talented hands. A carefully drawn Kingfisher perched on a blossoming manuka branch interlaced with copper detailing to create quite the stunning artwork. What makes it so special is the aged use of the oar with its old red paint and natural wood grain that was revealed as it was sanded back.
1st Image is a close-up of the Kingfisher on the blade
2nd Image is of the full lower blade
3rd Image is of the upper handle with feather and copper

These stunning ethereal abstracted venetian clouds come from the creative hands of contemporary weaver, Mandy Joess. In her art practice she uses disparate materials to represent the interweaving of cultures which results in pieces that float in the air as sculptural beauty. Following in the footsteps of her Kuia, she seeks to preserve and perpetuate all things matauranga Maori in an inclusive, light-hearted and ecological way.
The venetian blinds serve as an industrial place holder for Harakeke and can hang in or outdoors. In fact their perfect place is with the sky and clouds as their backdrop as they sway in the breeze outdoors.
