Diana Poor
A working artist in Clay for over 40 years covering a range of styles from hand built and stained porcelain in the 70's and 80’s to a comprehensive range of dinnerware, designed and decorated with several styles in the 90’s through to early 2000’s .
Training was mainly through watching my peers, attending a few classes at Auckland Studio Potters and a lot of experimentation.
I have over the years set up and run my own studios and galleries and my work has been sold nationwide and overseas.
For the last decade I have been making some wheel thrown domestic ware but my main focus has been on my sculptural pieces with terracotta clay and applying porcelain slips. I still love the responsive aspect of handling clay and how one movement of the hand can determine a unique expression or mood.
At the moment my figurative work reflect my two passions. My love of the human face, form and expression and my attraction to the sea which I love to visit daily.
